This evolution allows us to offer customers a full suite of asset-based transportation including over-the-road, cross-border, intermodal LTL and TL, drayage and transload, warehousing, distribution, logistics services and final mile.
Who we’re looking for:
The Data Engineer role requires a strong understanding of data and continuous improvement. Developing an understanding of Transportation pricing, costing and rate creation will be expected. The role requires an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Excel, SQL, Power BI and Python is required in order to perform complex calculations, as well as dynamic model building. ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), and data analysis from several source databases are required for performing costing and efficiency analyses. The Data Engineer must lead automation and business process improvement initiatives and projects, from inception to completion, providing the necessary deliverables within the allotted timeline.

What you’ll do:
Create architecture, perform ETL and analyze data from various data sources to answer specific business-related questions
Create analytical tools for the BAS team to support costing and RFPs
Lead automation projects
Creation of SOPs, staff training, as needed
Assist Business Analysts in creating KPI visibility reports
Assist Senior Management with creating specific tools as required
Travel to other branches may be required from time to time for short periods (2-3 days) for specific initiatives
Must Haves:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
University degree/Professional designation relating to computer science, business analysis, engineering, data analysis, or similar
2-3 years of experience (co-op acceptable) in an engineering, business analysis, data analysis role
Analytical skills using VBA in Excel and Power BI is required
Experience with at least one programming language (C/C++, Python, Java)
Proven project management experience
High level of organization skills including ability to follow established guidelines, methods and procedures to achieve desired results
Time management skills (i.e. ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely manner, the ability to work under pressure and meet strict guidelines, etc.)
Communication skills (verbal, written, facilitation, e-mail) including an ability to interact with all levels of organization. English language skills are a must; French would be a plus
General computer skills including a high level of comfort with MS Office and associated applications
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Operational knowledge of SQL databases
Operational knowledge of Python
Experience with Power BI dashboard design and automation
Operational knowledge of AWS S3 is nice to have
Operational knowledge of transportation is nice to have – LTL, TL, Intermodal/Rail, Drayage, Trans Load, Warehousing, Cross-Border, etc.
