1966–1990s
Fastfrate was founded in 1966 by Donald Freeman and Sophie Weimert, starting with just six employees and a strong partnership with CP Rail. What began as an LTL boxcar operation steadily evolved alongside the transportation industry. In 1994, Ron Tepper purchased the company and helped lead its transformation through investments in new technology, the transition from boxcars to intermodal containers, the launch of Canada Drayage Inc. (CDI), and the expansion of warehousing, logistics, and coast-to-coast infrastructure. These strategic investments helped shape the foundation of the Fastfrate Group we know today.
2000s–2020
Throughout the years, Fastfrate acquired regional transportation providers to strengthen its network and service offerings. More recently, Fastfrate Group expanded significantly through the acquisitions of ASL Distribution Services, Precision Parcel & Package Deliveries, Challenger Motor Freight, and Omnitrans Inc. These additions broadened the company’s expertise across, warehousing, final mile delivery, cross-border trucking and full truckload transportation, international freight forwarding, and customs brokerage.
