Fastfrate distinguishes itself as having the best occupational
health and safety record in the transportation industry in Canada.
There is no assignment at Fastfrate that will ever be so important
that we can't take the time to do it safely. This "Zero Tolerance"
Safety Program is the bottom line policy that commits Fastfrate to
providing the leadership, organization, training and resources to
maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
The contributing hands-on personnel behind our success are our Joint
Health and Safety Committee, our Hazardous Goods Team, and our
Safety Education.
Joint Health & Safety Task Force
Our Joint Health & Safety Task Force members are our big safety
overview teams. They assess conditions and practices and implement
changes. Team members review failures and near misses. Their goal is
to implement prevention programs, rather than to assign blame. Their
mandate is to provide leadership through research and development,
employing regular safety audits to identify where enhancements to
the safety program should be conducted. Beyond implementing
recommendations this streamlined task force will engage injured and
ill employees in a Return to Work Program and implement and monitor
Personal Safety Action plans for all managers and supervisors.
Hazardous Goods Team
Our Hazardous Goods Team is highly skilled in hazardous and
sensitive cargo transport. Among the world's elite, they provide
hazard recognition training, risk evaluation and on the job safety
measures to their co-workers nationwide.
Safety Education
All Fastfrate personnel are trained and certified in the
transportation and handling of dangerous goods. All forklift
operators are trained and licensed under the Ministry of Labour
Standards, to operate forklift trucks and handle propane. All
drivers undergo a prehire testing and in-depth orientation.
